Quinceanera

This is the biggest cake I have made in a long time. It was so stressful, and it didn't help that someone broke the power lines down the road with a tree. I was without power for four hours and every minutes counted on this cake. The bottom tier is vanilla with strawberry filling. It has fiver layers of cake. The middle tier was red velvet and had six layers of cake. The top tier was marble with chocolate mousse. It was a fun cake to make but so stressful.

Naked Wedding Cake

We got hitched. Naturally I couldn't let anyone else make our desserts. I had to be the one to make them. I made our wedding cake along with many other desserts that will be soon to come on the blog. The wedding cake was a lemon cake with raspberry compote per my loving husbands request. Normally the cake is made with a white chocolate ganache as frosting. Because of the time of season and the temperature I used a cream cheese frosting and lightly frosted the outside for what is calle a naked cake. It was then topped with fresh flowers that matched my bouquet.

Lavender Wedding Cake

Lavender, lavender and more lavender. My sister-in-law couldn't get enough lavender for their wedding. She wanted a simple cake with no fondant (thank goodness). I enjoy not having to use it once and a while. This cake was my classic vanilla almond cake with a cream cheese frosting, topped with fresh lavender. I love using fresh flowers when I can

Relief Society Cakes

This year I had the opportunity of being in charge of the relief society birthday dinner for our ward. I quickly said I would make the cake because I wanted to have fun and I hate sheet cake from the grocery store it's way to sweet and has more frosting than cake on it. My friend also needed a cake for her ward so I made a small version of the one I was making for my ward for her to take. She was going to help me but her baby was in the hospital with RSV. Her baby is good now.

This cake is a raspberry truffle cake. I like to think it's my signature cake. I made a chocolate fondant to cover it. It has gum paste flowers to decorate, giving it a spring look. I was kind of excited about my flowers since they are my first gum paste flowers. I was going to take a class on how to do flowers but have been to busy and now have to wait till fall when the class is offered again. But until then these will have to do. I got the insperation for the cake from the book my mom and dad got me for christmas.

Wedding Cake

I would love to make this wedding cake. It was one of my students and it was so elegant and simple. I don't know why it turned sideways and it wont let me fix it.
