Iron Festival

Well, I didn't do as well at the Iron Festival as I did at stampede days. I think there were a few things that affected the results.
1. It was really hot
2. The vendors and the car show were almost two completely differant things.
With that said though. I am out of business cards and I had 100 when I started, so if anything I will get some more traffic on my website and some orders.
Huckleberry Chocolate mini cake. I love the plates. I found them at Ross. They have little diamonds imbedded into the plate. There perfect for a wedding or something on my new stand!

Peach Blackberry. Yummy. This was my second attempt and they turned out so good. They reminded me of my grandma. They sounded and ended up looking like something my grandma would have at one of her tea parties. Grandma I still haven't had a tea party with you. Next time I'm down we are having a tea party and I'm making these for all your guests.
This is my new stand that I got from pampered chef with my party discount. I went to Ross and got a whole bunch of differant plates to go on it. They are all so neat. These are cake pops. I made White Almond on the bottom. Cookies and Cream in the middle. And Chocolate on top. The chocolate I dipped in White and Chocolate.
S'mores cupcake. If I were to do this again I think I would put some chocolate ganache on the cupcake and then the marshmallow frosting and then toast it more. But, they were still really good.
Huckleberry chocolate. The most popular cupcake of the day.
 Strawberry Lemonade.

Yes, there is a DP in the background. I must explain myself. I haven't had caffeine since my junior year of high school when I decided to stop drinking it. There's nothing bad about it, it was just a personal choice I made for myself. Anyway, I stayed up all night and didn't finish baking and decorating what I had to at home until 7am which by then I had to take a shower and get to the place to set up. So, I was so tired and Tyson bought me something to keep me awake. I felt so guilty drinking it but it did help me. Then at 4 when I was done I went home and crashed for a couple of hours. Then I woke up, went and ate with a friend and crashed again. Then I crashed all Sunday after church. I think I am finally caught up.

Peach Blackberry Cupcakes

These peach blackberry cupcakes are to die for. The cupcake has actual chunks of fresh peaches in it. The frosting is blackberry buttercream. Now it didn't set up correctly for these ones but it still tasted good.

Chocolate Euphoria

I went to this amazing bakery in Eugene Oregon. I ate a cake called Chocolate Orgasm. It inspired me and since I couldn't go get it whenever I want I had to try and replicate it. I think I got it. This is my version and since I am in Mormon Community Chocolate Orgasm is probably not the most appropriate name. So after much changing and trial and error here is my Chocolate Euphoria Cake.

Chocolate Marshmallow Cookie Recipe

I have gotten many requests for this recipe and since it is so simple and most of them live far away :) (just kidding) I decided I would give it out.

Tip: I use the stackable marshmallows

Ingredients
1 box of chocolate cake mix (I like devils food)
1/2 cup of butter
2 eggs
1 tablespoon of pure vanilla
1 bag of large marshmallows (cut each marshmallow in half and set aside)
Chocolate frosting recipe below
Recipe
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. With an electric mixer, cream butter (apx. 2 minutes)
3. Add cake mix, eggs and vanilla - mix until blended
4. Drop by spoonful onto cookie sheet lined with parchment (I use a medium cookie scoop)
5. Bake @ 350 for 8- 9 minutes
6. Remove cookies from oven and quickly place 2-3 marshmallow halves sticky side down on top of the cookie
7. Place pan back in oven for 1 minute
8. Remove cookies again and use the back of a buttered spoon to lightly flatten and spread the melted marshmallow across the top of each cookie
9. Allow to cool and frost with the chocolate frosting, making sure to cover all the marshmallow
10. Eat, eat, and try to share :)

Chocolate Frosting

  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Directions

  1. Cream together the butter or margarine with the shortening.
  2. Sift the cocoa with the confectioners' sugar and add to the creamed mixture. Mix together adding 1 tablespoon at a time of milk to keep mixture smooth. Don't add more than 1/4 cup of milk.
  3. Add the hot fudge topping and the vanilla extract. Blend until smooth and creamy.

County Fair

I entered some things in our county fair and this  was the result I was really excited. They only give three judges choice ribbons and I got two.
